Bail of Fakhrul, 3 others extended

A Dhaka court yesterday extended the bail to four BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, till June 17 in two murder cases filed with Ramna Police Station.
The other leaders are Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aman Ullah Aman and Sirajul Islam.
The order came after the accused appeared before the court with a bail extension prayer. The court had earlier granted ad-interim bail to them till yesterday.
Other accused in the cases -- BNP leaders Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Mirza Abbas and Abdus Salam, and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel -- also appeared before the court yesterday. They earlier secured permanent bail.
One of the cases was filed for killing a traffic constable, Ferdous Khalil, by torching a police bus in the capital's Bangla Motor on last December 24 during an anti-government demonstration of the BNP-led alliance.
Another case was filed by police on last December 1, a day after an unidentified passer-by was killed when the demonstrators bombed a car at Malibagh Chowdhurypara.
