5 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi road crash
Five Bangladeshi workers were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia early yesterday.
Condition of two injured workers is critical.
The accident happened around 6:00am when a minibus carrying 16 Bangladeshi migrants to their work lost control after one of its wheels burst, according to a press statement by Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh.
The five died on the spot. One of them was identified as Monirul Islam, son of Mohsin Hossain of Mohiswala village in Narail. Their bodies are kept at the morgue of King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah.
Of the 11 injured, four were undergoing treatment at King Fahad Hospital, two at King Abdul Aziz Hospital, three at Saudi-German Hospital and two others at King Abdullah Hospital in Jeddah.
Two of them were identified as Ishrafil Sheikh, son of Isharat Sheikh of Ramchandrapur village of Narail, and Sujan Ahmed, son of Shamsuddin of Bagla village in Sylhet's Gopalganj.
Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh or the consulate in Jeddah could not know the identities of the rest immediately.
The bodies of the deceased will be sent to Bangladesh after completion of the legal process, the press statement said.
