10th grader kidnapped, raped
A tenth-grader was allegedly kidnapped and raped by her brother-in-law several times at a hotel room in Patuakhali’s Kuakata beach town.
The incident surfaced on Wednesday when the victim’s family members filed a case with Kalapara Police Station accusing her brother-in-law and his accomplice Milon, said Monirul Islam, OC of the police station.
This newspaper is not disclosing the name of the main accused to protect privacy of the victim.
According to the case statement, the two accused kidnapped the girl around 3:00pm on May 8 while she was on her way to Kalapara town from her house in Itbaria village.
Later, they took her to Kuakata and kept her hostage at a room of “Somudro Resort”, a residential hotel, for seven days.
During this period, the brother-in-law raped the girl for several times, the statement added.
The girl escaped the hotel on Wednesday morning when the accused went outside for a while, said the victim’s brother.
The family members did not contact police until the return of the girl, said OC Monirul.
Police arrested Milon from his house in Kalapara town on Wednesday night, said the OC, adding that they were trying to arrest the prime accused who was on the run.
Talking to The Daily Star, owner of the hotel Miron claimed that the two had checked in the hotel as a couple.
TEENAGER ‘RAPED’ IN DINAJPUR
Meanwhile in Dinajpur, police arrested a man on Wednesday night on charge of raping a teenage girl in Parbatipur upazila.
The arrestee Mostafa Tamim Anik, 19, is the son of Abu Sayem from the same upazila.
The victim’s family filed a case with Parbatipur Police Station in this regard, said Atiquzzaman, sub-inspector of the police station.
According to the case statement, Anik entered the room of the 17-year-old victim after scaling the boundary wall of her house late at night and raped her.
The victim’s family members caught him red-handed while he was fleeing the spot, the SI added.
Later, they handed him over to police.
The girl was sent to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for medical tests, Atiquzzaman added.
