A physically challenged youth was found dead on no-man’s land in Kamalganj upazila of the district yesterday, six days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 22, son of Jawad Ali of Noagaon village near India’s Tripura Border area, said police.
Family members said Nurul went out of house on December 24 and since then he remained missing.
Later, the family members informed the law enforcers about the matter, said Subin Chandra Nath, inspector (investigation) of Kamalganj Police Station.
Nurul’s brother Sirajul Islam said they searched Nurul in every possible place during the time.
Yesterday afternoon, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Kurma informed the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) that a body was found on no man’s land. It is the deep forest of Toilongbari area in Islampur union.
The BGB men then rushed to the spot and informed police about the matter.
Being informed, a police team recovered the body from a small waterfall in Toilongbari area of Kamalganj upazila and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Inspector Subin Chandra Nath.
Criminals might have killed the youth somewhere else and later dumped the body there, he said.
However, the real reason behind the death will be known after getting the postmortem report, said the police official.
