Yaba dealers now up to novel ways
It appears that the more the law enforcers are trying to keep a tight rein on yaba trafficking, the more the purveyors are adopting novel tricks to worm their way into different parts of the country.
Amid recent drives against the crazy pills, a number of dealers got arrested while trafficking those using ingenious techniques, and this time, Rab members busted some 8,000 pills which were hidden inside furniture in a “special method” and being carried on a pickup van to Narayanganj from Cox's Bazar yesterday.
“Tipped off, a team of Rab set up a check point at Barichinish area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sonargaon around 4:00am and intercepted the furniture laden pick-up van,” said Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, acting company commander of Rab-11.
“After searching it, the pills were recovered from inside the legs of chairs which were hidden in a special method,” the Rab official said.
Two people were arrested in this connection. They are Abdur Rahim, 24, and Md Mizan, 23.
The two had long been involved in the distribution of yaba pills to different drug peddlers in Narayanganj, Jasim said.
“In primary interrogation, the two said that they were carrying the pills for a dealer in Kanchpur,” the Rab official said.
The pickup van was seized.
