Whistle Blower Doctors: ACC seeks info on those transferred
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought information from the health ministry about the doctors who have been transferred from their workplace on various grounds since late March.
Several doctors were transferred during this period after they raised questions over the standard of masks, gloves and PPEs supplied at the hospitals.
On June 18, the ACC formed a committee to probe into the allegations of corruption in the procurement N-95 mask, PPE and other safety gears.
The committee yesterday issued a letter to the ministry in this regard.
The commission also sought information from the health ministry, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) about the purchase of N-95 mask and PPE.
The letter, signed by ACC director Mir Md Zainul Abedin Shebly, asked the secretary of the health ministry, director general of DGHS and director of CMSD to reply by June 30, confirmed ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
The ACC sought detailed information about the projects undertaken to procure masks, PPE, sanitizers, ICU equipment, ventilators, PCR machine and test kits to combat Covid-19.
ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said the commission has taken a firm stance against corruption in the health sector.
"We hope the agencies will provide information in due time," he said, adding that anyone found involved in the corruption would be brought to book.
