Rate of dengue infection declines
Health Minister Zahid Maleque has claimed that the rate of dengue infection has come down in the country.
“A social movement has begun across the country to prevent dengue fever. So, the overall dengue situation in the country is much better now than it was before and the rate of dengue infection has also come down,” he said.
The minister was talking to journalists after visiting dengue patients at Manikganj Sadar Hospital yesterday.
However, the data of the Directorate General of Health Services show an upward trend in the number of dengue patients getting admitted to hospitals every day.
A total of 2,065 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in 24 hours since 8:00am on Sunday.
During the same period in the previous two days, the figures were 1,870 and 1,649 respectively, according to DGHS statistics.
The minister also said there was no crisis of dengue test kits in the country.
“Around 4 lakh test kits have already been brought to the country and those have been sent to each districts.”
Zahid said as more people got infected with dengue virus in Dhaka, they could spread the disease across the country.
He said the deputy commissioners and civil surgeons of all districts have been asked to take appropriate measures to control the spread of the disease.
He hoped the disease would be eliminated from the country soon.
