Prothom Alo most read daily
Bangla daily Prothom Alo has the highest number of readers among all the national dailies in the country, according to a recent survey. The National Media Survey (NMS)-2018, conducted by Kantar MRB Bangladesh, a research organisation, showed that around 66 lakh people read the print version of the paper daily.
MRB Bangladesh has been conducting the biannual survey on readership, impact and reach of the mass media for the last 18 years.
It is a member of the Kantar Group, one of the world's largest research, information, insight and consultancy networks, which is a part of the WPP Group.
Of the 11.44 crore people aged 15 and above in the country, 16,183 took part in the survey, which had an equal male-female ratio. A multi-staged stratified cluster sampling method was applied for it and it was conducted in all divisional cities and 184 places in selected municipalities and villages.
According to the NMS-2016 survey, 23.7 percent of the people aged 15 and above regularly read the newspaper. There are around 180 mentionable newspapers and 200 magazines in the county.
The survey had found that Prothom Alo had 53 lakh readers daily while the number stood at 66 lakh in 2018. Another 10 lakh readers go through its online version daily, according to data from Google analytics.
The newspaper's website was also recorded to be the most popular among all Bangladeshi sites, along with being the number one Bangla language website in more than 200 countries and regions in the world.
Besides, around 1.39 crore people follow Prothom Alo on Facebook, making it the 73rd most followed newspapers on the platform.
The Bangla Daily is going to celebrate its 20th founding anniversary on November 4.
