PM returns home
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home last night after wrapping up her four-day official visit to India that saw the signing of seven bilateral documents between the two countries.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the PM and her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:35pm.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Huq, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, PM’s Security Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office Abul Kalam Azad, among others, received her at the airport.
Earlier, India’s Minister of State for Women’s Development and Child Welfare Deboshree Choudhury and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali saw her off at Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi.
Hasina attended the India Economic Summit-2019 of the World Economic Forum held on October 3-4.
During the visit, the PM also held a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and met Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday.
The two prime ministers jointly launched three bilateral development projects and witnessed the signing of seven bilateral documents.
Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi accompanied by former Indian PM Manmohan Singh and party’s General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi met Hasina at Taj Mahal Hotel yesterday.
Besides, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Heng Swee Keat met Hasina separately.
During her stay in New Delhi, Hasina received “Tagore Peace Award-2018” in recognition of her contributions to maintaining the regional peace and prosperity.
The Asiatic Society, Kolkata, honoured her with the award.
