PCJSS man found dead in Rangamati
A member of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti’s MN Larma faction was found dead in Rangamati’ Langadu upazila yesterday.
Residents of Uttar Iyerangchari village spotted the body of Snehashish Chakma alias Vogotang in the morning and informed police.
The 40-year-old was a resident of Gucchogram in Baghaichhari upazila. He had been living in Langadu-Dighinala area for long for official purpose, said Prashanta Chakma, information and publicity secretary, PCJSS-MN Larma central committee.
“The body was recovered and sent to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy,” said Langadu police OC Ranjan Kumar Samonto. “The villagers heard some gunshots around 11pm Wednesday,” he added.
Snehashish was scheduled to reach Iyerangchari from Dighinala on Wednesday night for some official purpose, said Prashanta. He blamed PCJSS for the murder.
About his claim, Moni Shankar Chakma, general secretary of PCJSS Langadu unit, said PCJSS had nothing to do with the killing, rather it could be the result of an internal conflict in the MN Larma faction.
More than 55 people got killed in Chattogram Hill Tracts over the last two years following conflicts among the political parties and their factions.
