Mob kills two suspected robbers in Brahmanbaria
Two suspected robbers died after a mob beat them up at a village in Brahmanbaria’s Ashuganj upazila early yesterday.
About 14 robbers barged into the house of one expat Habibur Rahman in Durgapur village around 2:00am, said Ashuganj police OC Md Masud Alam.
“The residents of the house and the dacoits engaged in a brawl. Neighbours reached there hearing the hullabaloo. They caught two robbers while the rest managed to flee,” he said quoting the villagers.
“Police reached the scene after being informed and found two seriously injured robbers. They died after being taken to the Brahmanbaria General Hospital.”
The dead were yet to be identified, the OC said adding that they seemed to be in their late 30s.
The robbers injured three residents of the house: Preety Akter, daughter-in-law of Habibur Rahman, and Sanaullah Miah, 40, and Rahul Mia, 24, son and grandson of Habibur respectively.
Sanaullah and Rahul were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with serious stab wounds, OC Masud said.
Bodies of the robbers were kept at the morgue in Brahmanbaria General Hospital, he told this paper.
