India’s Border Security Force (BSF) will return home from Bangladesh within the next two days, a spokesperson in Kolkata said.
Almost 100 BSF jawans were killed and 500 wounded during the 1971 war.
General Sam Manekshaw says that India’s primary duty is to take the 93,000 Pakistani troops out of Bangladesh. He orders his army to keep watch at the border.
The Bangladesh government decides to form the extended probe committee to determine the impairment done by the Pakistan army and their collaborators, an APB report said.
Indian PM Indira Gandhi in a New Delhi press conference says that India wants to offer friendship to Pakistan. “We want to live in peace,” she says.
The Bangladesh government will decide to make tribunal for war crimes, Gandhi added.
