3 schoolgirls raped in Ctg
A metropolitan magistrate court in Chattogram yesterday sent two men to jail on charges of raping three schoolgirls in the town's Khulshi area.
The accused are Mohammed Liton, 37, of Noakhali, and Sohel Rana Raju, 28, of Cumilla, said police.
Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, said the duo kept the girls confined at a house in Khulshi area on July 29 and raped them overnight.
According to the police official, one of the three victims went out of her home following family feud on the day. On information, rest of the two offered her company and they went to the town's Tiger Pass area together around 8:30pm.
Following their movement, a man asked them about their issue and offered them accommodation for the night. He then called the two accused.
On information, the duo came to the spot and took the girls to a house in Khulshi area. There, they raped the girls overnight and fled the scene in the morning.
Later, the victims lodged a complaint with police with the help of their family members. The law enforcers then arrested the duo early yesterday and produced them before the court.
Police also arrested Omar Faruk, 46, caretaker of the house in Khulshi, on July 30 and sent him to jail via court.
The owners of the house stay abroad and the caretaker use that place for different criminal acts taking the advantage, said the law enforcers.
Meanwhile, the victims identified Liton and Raju seeing their faces, they added.
