21 SP-ranked cops get transferred
In a major reshuffle in the police department, 21 SP-ranked officials including the SPs of 11 districts and nine DCs of the metropolitan cities were transferred yesterday.
The home ministry in an order signed by Mohammad Hossain, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division, made the transfer.
The transfer came just two days into a major reshuffle in the field administration in which the government transferred 19 officials as deputy commissioners to as many districts.
In yesterday’s order, Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Biplob Kumar Sarkar was transferred as the superintendent of police of Rangpur, DC Mohibul Islam Khan of DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit was made the SP of Kurigram, DC Wari Division of DMP Mohammad Farid Uddin was transferred as the SP of Sylhet, DC of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Alamgir Hossain as the SP of Noakhali, DC of DMP Hayatul Islam Khan as the SP of Pirojpur, DC of Detective Branch of DMP Khandaker Nurunnabi as the SP of Feni, SP of Noakhali Elias Sharif as the DC of DMP, SP of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) Mohammad Kaiser as the SP of Bhola, and SP of Bhola Moktar Hossain was transferred as the DC of Barishal Metropolitan Police.
Besides, SP of Kurigram Md Mehedul Karim was transferred as the SP of ATU, Joypurhat SP Md Rashidul Hasan as the DC of RMP, SP of Police Headquarters Mohammad Salam Kabir as the SP of Joypurhat, DC of DMP Mohammad Yusuf Ali as the SP of Panchagarh, SP of Jhalakathi Md Zobayedur Rahman as the DC of DMP, DC of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Fatiha Yesmin as the SP of Jhalakathi, SP of Panchagarh Md Giasuddin Ahmed as the special SP of Special Branch, SP of Sylhet Md Moniruzzaman as the special SP of SB, Commandant of 8 Armed Police Battalion Syed Moshfequr Rahman as the special SP of SB, Mohammad Shihab Kaiser Khan of SP (PTC) Noakhali as the commandant of 8 APBn, SP of Rangpur Md Mizanur Rahman as the SP of Rajbari and Rajbari SP Asma Siddika Mili was transferred as the DC of DMP.
Insiders say almost all the officials have been transferred after serving three years or more in their respective posts. However, transfer of a few was considered as upset as those officials have close connection with the high-ups but got apparently less lucrative posts, they observe.
