2 doctors die from Covid-19
Two more doctors died with Covid-19 in the capital yesterday.
Dr Shafiqul Islam, a first batch student of Sir Salimullah Medical College, breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital around 9:00am, said Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR).
Dr Shafiqul got infected with the virus nearly three weeks ago and admitted at the hospital, Dr Rahat added.
Meanwhile, Dr Mujibur Rahman Ripon, an associate professor at Central Medical College and Hospital in Cumilla, died at United Hospital.
Dr Mujibur got admitted to the hospital with breathing difficulties on June 3 and he was tested Covid-19 positive there, said Dr Rahat.
Later, the results of two consecutive tests during his treatment came negative. But on June 16, doctors conducted another test and found him to be Covid-19 positive.
He was put on ventilation later on the day as his condition deteriorated, Dr Rahat said.
With them, at least 42 doctors have died of Covid-19 so far and six others passed away with coronavirus symptoms, according to FDSR.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Doctors Foundation said 43 doctors died with infection and six others breathed their last showing symptoms.
