2 brothers found dead, a day after 'abduction'
The bullet-hit bodies of two brothers were found in Sharsha and Keshabpur upazilas yesterday, a day after they were allegedly abducted by unidentified men.
The deceased are Azizul Haque, 45, and Faruq Hossain, 50, sons of Zeher Ali of Jamtola Samta village in Sharsha.
Their brother Saidul Islam identified the bodies at Jessore General Hospital morgue in the afternoon.
He said his brothers left home for Samta Bazar around 7:00pm on Saturday. As they did not return till 10:00pm, the family looked for them in different places and later informed police.
In the morning, police recovered Azizul's body from a mahogany orchard around 9:00am at Pashchimkota village in Sharsha and informed Saidul.
Sub-inspector (SI) Abdur Rahim Hawlader of Bagachra Police Camp said locals informed them after seeing the bullet-hit body in the orchard. They sent the body to Jessore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
After Saidul identified Azizul's body, an “unidentified” body arrived at the hospital from Keshabpur and he identified it as his other brother.
Officer-in-Charge Mashiur Rahman of Sharsha police said Azizul might have been killed in gunfight between two groups of drug traders.
“Azizul alias Hatkata Azizul was an identified drug peddler. He is accused in seven to eight drug related cases,” he added.
Keshabpur police also recovered the bullet-hit body of Faruq from Dharmapur village on Sagordari-Chingra road in the morning.
Saidul said Azizul was a sand and soil trader. “His both hands were blown off in a bomb explosion long ago,” Saidul said, denying that his brother was a drug peddler.
He alleged that people identifying themselves as police personnel picked them up and killed them.
Both Keshabpur and Sharsha police denied arresting the duo.
