Manju gets show cause notice

Returning officer yesterday issued a show cause notice on BNP-backed mayoral candidate Manjur Alam Manju in Chittagong City Corporation polls for violating the electoral code of conduct.

Assistant Returning Officer Shafiqur Rahman said Manju violated the electoral rule by bringing out a motor procession during his election campaign yesterday.

Manju was asked to reply to the notice within 24 hours, he said.

Shafiqur said they got proof of the code violation from their vigilance team.
