I'm CJ thanks to country's liberation
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha yesterday said if the country had not been liberated, it would never have been possible for him to be at the helm of the apex court.
Founder of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamt of this country and brought independence to the country, he said, adding that as the country gained independence, remote areas of the country were being developed.
Sinha was speaking as the chief guest at the foundation laying ceremony of Moulvibazar District Bar Association Building-1 in Moulvibazar Puro Janomilan Kendra.
For lawyers, the chief justice said they had to study on cybercrime. "Respect for judges is the yardstick to gauge how civilised a country is. I urge you to show restraint and not to boycott courts. If any misunderstanding takes place with judges, settle it through discussions."
“We have made a lot of progress. Now, nobody calls us a bottomless basket.”
District Bar Association President Ranjit Kumar Ghosh presided over the function where its General Secretary Mizanur Rahman, District and Sessions Judge Abu Taher, Chief Judicial Magistrate AGM AL Masud and Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Tofayel Islam, among others, spoke.
