7 killed in road crash

Seven people, including two children, were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Noabazar of Chauddagram yesterday.

The fatal accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus of Unique Paribahan collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 6:25pm. 

All the seven people of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot while 10 passengers of the bus received injuries from the crash, said Md Rezaul Karim, superintendent of highway police. The dead are Rosina Akhter, 45 and her daughter Sumaiya Akhter, 7, Kulsum Akhter, 35, Jasmine Akhter, 35, and her daughter Dolly Akhter, 5, auto-rickshaw driver Feroze Miah, 35, and an unidentified man.

The injured were taken to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex and were later released after primary treatment.

The CNG-run auto-rickshaw was going to Chauddagram from Miabazar in Comilla, locals said.
