2 'JMB leaders' on five-day fresh remand
Two alleged leaders of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, who were arrested in connection with the murder of ex-PDB chairman Khijir Khan, were placed on a five-day fresh remand yesterday.
DB Inspector Azizur Rahman, also investigation officer of the case, produced the arrestees before a Dhaka court on completion of a three-day remand, with a prayer for 10-day fresh remand. The court granted five days for each of them.
On October 5, criminals slew Khijir entering his Badda residence. Around a week later, the duo - Tariqul Islam Tareque alias Mithu, a JMB organiser, was arrested from Tangail and Alek Bepari from Mirpur.
Police petitioned for fresh remand as they could not obtain any information about rest of the killers, investigators said.
