ASK protests AL attacks on opposition activists

Rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) yesterday protested attacks on opposition leaders and activists, including pro-BNP-Jamaat teachers, journalists and lawyers, by ruling party activists in the last two days.
In a press statement issued yesterday, the organisation demanded that the government take punitive action against the attackers and measures to stop suppressing the opposition activists.
Referring to media reports, the organisation said some ruling-Awami League activists attacked pro-BNP-Jamaat journalists while they were holding a rally at Jatiya Press Club and the AL activists also attacked some white panel teachers of Dhaka University.     
The pro-BNP-Jamaat lawyers of the Supreme Court came under the attack in the last two days while they were holding rallies and trying to join the opposition alliance's “March for Democracy” programme.
