Zee5 Global recreates ‘Abar Jombe Mela’ with popular artistes
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, as a message of hope, Zee5 Global has recreated the yesteryear folk song, Abar Jombe Mela, under the title, Biswa Obak Cheye Robe (Abar Jombe Mela Reprise), with popular artistes and youth icons of Bangladesh. The song is available across all Zee5 platforms. This initiative is taken in association with Dettol, and supported by Nestle.
Originally created in early 1972 in a newly independent Bangladesh, this folk song drives a strong message of hope and has been revived through a new format by composer Raef Al Hasan Rafa. It is penned and tuned by Lokman Fakir.
Popular musicians Zohad Reza Chaudhury, Elita Karim and Karishma Sanu Sovvota have sung Biswa Obak Cheye Robe (Abar Jombe Mela Reprise).
The made-at-home music video of the song also features actors Apurba, Zakia Bari Mamo, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Yash Rohan and Nazifa Tushy. The video is conceptualised and planned by Mashfiq Ahmed and directed by Krishnendu Chattopadhyay. Sarder Saniat Hossain and Iresh Zaker are the producers of the project, while Shaila Ahmed is the executive producer. R Shohag is the editor of the video.
In January 2020, at an event in Dhaka, Zee5 shared their plans for Bangladesh and announced their rollout of various initiatives to drive growth in the market through strong local collaborations. The coronavirus pandemic, however, has caused some of their on-ground initiatives, that were underway and scheduled to launch to be pushed back.
However, in these trying times, 'Biswa Obak Cheye Robe: Towars Hope', a Zee5 project in collaboration with Good Company – An Asiatic 360 Content Initiative, offers a song that salutes Bangladesh's resilience as a country.
Amit Goenka, CEO, ZEE International and Zee5 Global said, "Bangladesh is a hugely important market for us. This song intends to celebrate the spirit and resilience of the people of the country as they navigate these challenging times."
