Zainul Utshab 2019 begins
Marking the 105th birth anniversary (December 29) of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, the master artist and pioneer of art education movement in Bangladesh, the Faculty of Fine Art (FFA), popularly known as Charukala, of University of Dhaka (DU) is hosting a 3-day festival, titled Zainul Utshab 2019 at its premises. Founded on November 15, 1948, by Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, this institution has been celebrating this fair annually since 2009. The event exhibits artworks, sculptures, and handmade crafts by eminent artists, art students of Charukola, and local folk artisans.
Like every year, the authority of FFA, DU, confer Zainul Shommanona to eminent artists and art educators. This year, two prominent Bangladeshi artists, eminent sculptor Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan and Professor Mahmudul Haque, and eminent Indian artist Professor Dr Janak Jhankar Narzary, will receive Zainul Shommanona at the inaugural ceremony, which will be held at 10 am today. The event, which includes several exclusive seminars every day, will conclude on December 31.
