The ‘Rupali Guitar’ that honours a rebel
Chattogram, the city that the legendary Ayub Bachchu was born and grew up in, recently honoured the artiste with a sculpture of his fabled ‘Rupali Guitar’. Unveiled by the Chattogram City Corporation Mayor, A J M Nasir Uddin, the 18-feet tall sculpture signifies much more than a memoir. It is the ultimate victory of a rebel, who always swam against the tide to deliver a new kind of music. Always keen to experiment, improve and evolve, the virtuoso’s recognition was the first of its kind for a rock musician in Bangladesh.
