Steeler vocalist Masudul Hoque Liton passes away at 49
Chattogram based musician Masudul Hoque Liton passed away on Thursday evening due to a haemorrhagic stroke, at his residence in Mehedibag. After being taken to Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital, he was declared dead by the doctors. He was 49 at the time of passing. The artiste, who was active in the music industry with his band Steeler from 1986, came into the limelight with the song Tumi Ki Amay Ager Moto Basho Bhalo in the mixed album Mon Jole, composed and arranged by Ayub Bachchu.
Steeler's albums, Purbo Poshchim and Ma, were important in the acsension of band music in Chattogram. Liton was looked up to as inspiration for aspiring musicians in the district, often cited as an underrated figure in the band music industry. The artiste, who is survived by his wife and two sons, will be laid to rest in the graveyard beside Katalganj Jame Mashjid today.
