Stars contesting West Bengal assembly polls: How have they fared?

In the West Bengal assembly polls, the three major political forces nominated stars from the film industry as party candidates. Even before the All India Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, it was able to attract stars from the entertainment industry as their party representatives. However, with time, the All India Trinamool Congress failed to keep up with the trend. Subsequently, many stars became detached from the activities.

BJP's Locket Chatterjee was the candidate from Hooghly's Chunchura in this year's elections. In the last phase of the count, he was far behind his nearest rival Trinamool candidate. It is worth mentioning that Chatterjee once hailed from Mamata Banerjee's circle and he later joined the BJP.

However, Trinamool snatched the seat in the by-election, after he won the Lok Sabha elections. This year, BJP's return to this seat is an accomplishment.
