Singers Association of Bangladesh established to protect the rights of artistes
To protect the moral and financial rights of the singers in Bangladesh and to stop the ongoing anomalies in the music arena, the Singers Association of Bangladesh was established recently after an arduous process of two months.
Independence Award winning Rabindra Sangeet artiste Rezwana Choudhury Bannya was elected as the chief convener of the association, along with National Award winning singer Kumar Bishwajit and Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel as the joint conveners.
Eminent artistes Syed Abdul Hadi, Khurshid Alam, Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury, Rafiqul Alam, Fakir Alamgir, Linu Billah, Shaheen Samad, Papiya Sarowar, Abida Sultana, Ferdous Ara, Tapan Mahmud, Indra Mohan Rajbongshi, Fatema Tuz Zohora and Yakub Ali Khan are part of the advisors' panel.
Sadi Mohammad, Kiran Chandra Roy, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, Asif Akbar, Aditi Mohsin, Khairul Anam Shakil, Abida Sultana, Fatema Tuz Zohora, Rumana Morshed, Kanak Chapa, Shafi Mondol, Rabi Chowhdury, S I Tutul, Agun, Akhi Alamgir, Chandan Sinha, Dinat Jahan Munni, Priyanka Gope, Anima Roy, Maidul Islam Khan Shuvo, Joy Shahriar, Kishore Das, Somnur Monir Konal and Ilias Hossain are the executive members of the board.
"With the formation of the Singers Association of Bangladesh, a new spectrum of opportunity and unity has been created in the music arena," shares Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, reflecting on how after 50 years of independence, the lack of proper policy in the industry was evident.
"We are determined to preserve the creations of the artistes, as it is an asset for the future generation and the artists themselves," shares Kumar Bishwajit. "Artistes dreams to be self-reliant according to their merits and to fulfil this dream we form this association along with the elders and newcomers of the industry who believe in the spirit of liberation. We convey our heartfelt gratitude for everyone associated with this initiative."
