Shooting of Bangabandhu biopic to start in Mumbai
A film on the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's life -- a Bangladesh-India joint venture commemorating his 100th birth anniversary, is in the making.
The shooting for this much anticipated film was scheduled to start in March last year. Owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the filming will now take place from January 25 in Mumbai.
The shoot will conclude on April 10, 2021. Cast members of the film will be going to Mumbai by January 20.
According to a list of the selected cast members for the biopic published by the BFDC, the film will feature actor Arifin Shuvoo in the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Dighi will respectively portray the elder and younger versions of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's wife Fazilatunnesa Mujib, while Nusraat Faria will play the role of a younger Sheikh Hasina and Jannatul Sumaiya will portray an elder Sheikh Hasina.
Eminent actor Dilara Zaman will play the role of Bangbandhu's mother Sayera Khatun and actor Khairul Alam Sabuj will portray Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman. The film will also feature Raisul Islam Asad, Gazi Rakayet, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Ferdous Ahmed, Tauquir Ahmed, Misha Sawdagar and Siam Ahmed among others, in pivotal roles.
Acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal is directing the biopic. Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi wrote the screenplay of the film. Shyam Benegal's daughter Piya Benegal is the costume director, while Nitish Roy is the art director of the film.
