'Shomoyer Gaan, Oshomoyer Kobita'
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and author Imdadul Haq Milon looked back on the olden days in a session titled Shomoyer Gaan, Oshomoyer Kobita at the Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF) yesterday. Shamim Reza was the moderator of the session. Asaduzzaman Noor talked about his childhood years, drinking warm tea from a Kasha's glass – something he still craves till today. He recalled how he once went to a dhaaner khet (paddy field), crossing a railway, to write poetry along with two of his friends, just like the movie, Pather Panchali. Speaking about his journey of becoming an author, Imadadul Haq Milon said how his grandmother used to tell him stories and the world of imagination fascinated him since childhood. From a young age, more than cricket or football, libraries attracted him. The panelists also reflected upon the world that we are living in today. When asked if Asaduzzaman Noor enjoys being a politician more than he enjoys being an actor, he expressed that his heart lies in theatre, but being a politician helps him reach out to the people of the country. The event, filled with laughter and nostalgia, ended with a question and answer session.
