Seng Kut Snem, the festival celebrated by the Khasi indigenous community to welcome a new year, was held recently at Magurchhara Punjee, Kamalgonj, Moulvibazar. The programme was organised by Khasi Social Council to look back on this year’s achievements and to embrace the joys of the upcoming year, 2020. Nazia Shirin, Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar, was present at the occasion as the Chief Guest, among others. The event was presided over by Jidision Prodhan, President of Khasi Social Council. “The Seng Kut Snem is a festival observed to mark the Seng Khasi movement,” he said.
