Runa Laila’s ‘Legends Forever’ unveiled in the House of Lords, UK
Celebrated singer Runa Laila's album 'Legends Forever' had an exclusive unveiling at the The House of Lords, UK recently. It was a memorable day for her, as it is the first time an album was launched in the House of Lords. According to the National Award winning singer, it was her dream project. She is grateful to have legendary artistes, including the likes of Asha Bhosle, Hariharan, Adnan Sami and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan lend their voices to this album.
Lata Mangeshkar herself had promised Runa that she would contribute to the album. However, due to illness, she could not do so. Instead, Lata ji showered her blessings through a beautiful audio message that she sent Runa. Later, the number was recorded by Runa Laila herself.
According to Runa Laila, it was her dream to make an album in Bengali, voiced by living legends of the industry. This is the first time that Hariharan, Adnan Sami and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have sung in Bengali. Moniruzzaman Monir and Kabir Bakul wrote the lyrics for Legends Forever, while Runa Laila composed the entire album and it was arranged by Raja Kasheff.
Legendary Indian singer Anup Jalota, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom, Saida Muna Tasneem, Member of Parliament of UK, House of Commons, Seema Malhotra, among others, attended the launching ceremony. Rt Hon Baroness Manzila Pola Uddin, Member of Parliament, UK, House of Lords, arranged the programme, dedicated to celebrate the album and International Mother Language Day at the same time.
The legendary singer thanked City Bank, Prothom Alo and everyone associated with Legends Forever. Runa credits her husband and legendary actor Alamgir, for inspiring her to compose music. Her first composition was for the film, Ekti Cinemar Golpo, produced and directed by Alamgir, for which she received the National Film Award for composition.
Legends Forever was conceived while she was having a conversation with Rafi Hossain, Editor, Showbiz, The Daily Star and Anandadhara. Rafi told her that if she collaborates with international artistes, it would be a formidable album in the current landscape of the music industry. Last year, five music videos from Legends Forever were released, sponsored by City Bank Limited.
