Parampara Dance Festival 2020: An evening with Imran Hasan Istiaque and his guru Pandit Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee
Celebrating the bond between dance gurus and their shishyas the third installment of Parampara Dance Festival: An evening of music and dance, organised by Pravaha Institution, featuring noted Bangladeshi kathak dancer Imran Hassn Ishtiaque, disciple of Kathak guru Pandit Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee, was held online recently.
The evening began with a Devistuti. The artiste performed on a mystical traditional rendition of Bhawani Dayani, praising the goddess Durga and seeking her blessings. This performance was followed by an instrumental-dance routine where the dancer performed on Dhamar, a fourteen beat Tala, composed and choreographed by his guru. He beautifully blended elements of Upaz, Amad, Paran and Lari with dance styles of Jaipur and Lucknow. The performer was accompanied by Biswajit Paul on tabla and Sunanda Mukherjee on Sarod.
The evening ended with a devotional performance on Lata Mangeshkar's Sajda, composed by Quateel Sifai. The performance was choreographed by Pandit Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee.
