New trailer of ‘The Goldfinch’ shows promise

The third trailer of John Crowley’s upcoming film, The Goldfinch, was released recently. Based on Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer winning novel of the same name, the film revolves around Theo, who has a troubled past that leads him to the world of art forgery. The drama-thriller stars Nicole Kidman, Ansel Elgort, Oakes Fegley, Finn Wolfhard and Aneurin Barnard among others. 

The, at the age of 13, witnesses his mother’s death in a terrorist bombing in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The tragedy changes his life forever as he embarks on a journey of grief, guilt and redemption. Throughout the story, he clings on to a painting of a tiny bird chained to its porch, the goldfinch. At the centre of Crowley’s take on The Goldfinch is a tragic and engaging mystery. The film is set to be released on September 13, 2019
