Natyadhara Theatre Festival with ‘Tanusree Padak 2019’ begins today
Marking the 27th founding anniversary of the theatre troupe Natyadhara, a three-day (November 28-30) theatre festival begins today at 4:30 pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). 27 renowned thespians from 27 theatre troupes of Bangladesh will inaugurate the festival.
The troupe will also confer Tanusree Padak 2019 at the opening ceremony. In memory of late Tanushree Gayen, a young theatre activist and dancer, Natyadhara confers Tanushree Padak, every year, on a young creative theatre activist in recognition of his/her outstanding performance in theatre.
Noted dance Guru Kabirul Islam Ratan with his troupe Nrityalok, will present a commemorative performance, recollecting the memories of his disciple Tanushree Gayen.
Renowned theatre personality and Honourary President of International Theatre Institute (Worldwide), Ramendu Majumdar will attend the event as chief guest and hand over the award. Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Lucky Inam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, Kamal Bayazid and the CEO of Anjan’s, Shaheen Ahmed, will be in attendance as special guests. The Chief Editor of Natyadhara, Masud Parvez Miju, will preside over the award ceremony.
On the opening day, Samatat Natyadal will stage their pala production Ujan Bhaital Koinya. Kolkata-based theatre troupe Ifta will stage two shows of their play Dear Papa at 4:15 pm and 7:15 pm on the second day while Natyadhara’s popular production Charlie will be staged on the concluding day of the festival.
