Nagarnat’s live theatre show protests environmental destruction
'Tree', 'bird', 'honeybee', 'fish', 'deer' and 'tiger' all joined in a live talk show to express their grievances and protest the uncontrolled destruction of the environment.
Marking World Environment Day, the live show 'Sundarbans' was aired on Facebook on Saturday at 8 pm. The unique show is a street play by Nagarnat, a theatre troupe from Sylhet. Six performers from different locations took part in the play, representing six elements of the Sundarbans.
The play, written by Ahmed Bablu and directed by Arup Baul, was went live from the Facebook page of the theatre group. In the play, the elements demanded protection of all forests, including the Sundarbans.
According to Arup Baul, all actors shot their parts of the play from their respective homes, to promote social distancing.
Uzzal Chakravarty, Roni Das, Rajon Paul, Nirjhor Prokash, Apu Majumder and Debopriya Paul performed in the play.
