Murals to save stray dogs: Artists and animal lovers join hands
Dhaka South City Corporation's recent plan on culling dogs brought animal lovers together to protect the innocent lives. A two-day wall painting event is taking place at Dhanmondi Satmasjid Road. PAW Foundation has arranged the event, inaugurated by celebrated artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma and noted artist Syed Abul Barq Alvi, Professor, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, along with many others.
"To keep up the balance of nature, all creatures must have the right to live," asserted Kanak Chanpa Chakma. "We have expressed our solidarity in protecting and taking care of stray animals. Dogs and cats are habituated to living among human beings and with care and love, they can be our companions. They are not harmful to us."
The event will run until 6 pm today. Tomorrow, it will be held from 10 am until 4 pm, with a closing ceremony. PAW Foundation is utilising a private property for the murals of this creative protest.
