ICBM Icon 2020 kicks off
International Center for Bengali Music (ICBM) has organised an online music competition, titled "ICBM Icon 2020" for students who are currently pursuing their academics in music from Bangladesh and India. The institutions from Bangladesh are University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jagannath University, University of Chittagong, Rabindra University, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, and University Of Development Alternative. Students from the music department of Visva-Bharati University, Rabindra Bharati University, University of Calcutta and Kazi Nazrul University will also be participating in this competition.
The categories of participation are classical music, Rabindra Shongeet, Nazrul Shongeet, folk and qawwali. Not only students but music graduates will participate in this contest (if they have graduated in the last 5 years). The video duration for classical music is 9 minutes whereas, for the other music forms, the video has to be 8 minutes in duration. Each participant was allowed to participate in a maximum of 2 categories.
"ICBM Icon 2020 aims at restoring hope through music," says noted Nazrul singer Dr Leena Taposhi Khan, Chairperson of ICBM and Assistant Professor at Department of Music, University of Dhaka. "I believe, this attempt will manage to drive negativity from our minds in the state of pandemic."
The submission lines for this contest are closed. The winner of this competition will be announced on January 29.
