General election of Directors Guild to be held in February

The general election of the Directors Guild is to be held on February 26 at Shilpakala Academy. The initial date for the election was scheduled for December 2020, unfortunately, due to the ongoing global pandemic, it was postponed.

S M Mohsin will helm the role of the chief election commissioner for the upcoming election, while Jhuna Chowdhury and Ananta Hira are selected to be election commissioners.

Noted actors Syed Hasan Imam, Mamunur Rashid and Abul Hayat will be in charge of the appeal department.

According to the Directors Guild, the full schedule of the election is to be announced soon and the members are preparing for the upcoming election accordingly.

"Any full-time member of the organisation is eligible to participate in the election, though the schedule might announce some new changes this time," says S A Haque Olike.

The Directors Guild arranged their bi-annual general meeting on January 9 and the election decision was then finalised in the meeting. Director Salahuddin Lavlu is the current President of the guild, while S A Haque Olike is the current General Secretary.

"I am not a candidate for the election this time, I expect to see new leaders in the organisation," shares Salahuddin Lavlu.
