Farooki and Figgis at ‘Bridge to Hollywood’ in Busan
The Motion Picture Association of America, in association with Asian Film Academy, hosted a workshop and pitching contest titled, ‘Bridge to Hollywood’, in Busan recently. Internationally acclaimed director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and Mike Figgis, the Oscar-nominated British director of Leaving Las Vegas, were the mentors of the workshop. Figgis presided over the jury of the New Currents section at the 24th edition of the Busan International Film Festival.
The two directors discussed their filmmaking philosophies and the challenges of filmmaking on the first day of the programme. The pitching contest was held on the second day. The Motion Picture Association of America will send the winner of the contest to Hollywood, the home of the US film industry, for training them in filmmaking. A total of 24 fellows from across the world participated in the workshop and contest through Asian Film Academy.
