25 films to receive government grants amid pandemic
Each year, the Government of Bangladesh provides grants to several full-length and short films. For the 2019-2020 budget year, the Ministry of Information announced the grant list on June 25. A total of 25 films were selected this year. The ongoing pandemic has led to huge losses for the film industry. As a result, the government increased the number of films that will be receiving grants.
16 full-length films, including Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar's Tungiparar Dushahoshi Khoka, Giasuddin Selim's Kajolrekha, Badrul Anam Soud's Shyamakabbo, SA Haque Olike's Joddha, Rowshan Ara Rozina's Fire Dekha, Pradip Ghosh's Bhalobashar Pritilata, Ispahani Arif Jahan's Hridita, Fazlul Kabir Tuhin's Gangkumari, Shantosh Kumar Biswas's Chhayabrikkho, Pangkaj Palit's Ekti Na Bola Golpo, Awal Reza's Megh Roddur Khela, Mostafizur Rahman Manik's Ashirbad, Monjurul Islam's Bildakini, Iftekhar Shuvo's Lekhok, Anam Biswas's Football 71 and Nure Alam's Russeler Jonno Opekkha will receive grants this year.
Directors Fakhrul Arefin Khan, Prabil Kumar Sarker, Sharif Mahmud, ABN Nazmul Huda, Sajedul Islam, Debashish Das, Sohel Ahmed Siddiqui, Mitali Roy and Chaitali Samadder will receive grants for their short films and documentaries.
