19th Dhaka Int’l Film Festival concludes
Kyrgyz film "The Road to Eden" jointly directed by Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar Uulu won the Best Film Award in the Asian Film Competition segment at the 19th Dhaka International Film Festival, which ended today.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud was present as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the festival, dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In total, 15 awards were given in different categories at the closing ceremony.
In the Asian Competition segment, the Best Director Award went to director Ksenia Lagutina for the film "Farida", jointly produced by Azerbaijan and Russia.
Best Actress Award in Asian segment went to Meruert Subbusinova for the Kazakhstan film "Mariam" while the Best Actor Award went to Nejat Isler for the Turkish film "9, 75".
In Bangladesh Panorama Section, Masud Hasan Ujjal directed local film "Unoponchash Batash" bagged the Best Film Award.
The film was selected by a three-member jury comprising special correspondent of New Age Ershad Komal Khan, film critic-writer-activist AM Mamunur Rashid and noted screenwriter Sadia Khalid.
The Best Audience Award in the section went to Fakhrul Arefeen Khan directed local film "Gondi".
The festival featured 226 films from 73 countries.
