Celebrating Life at JU

Popular folk band Joler Gaan enthralled a large audience on Tuesday evening at Zahir Raihan Auditorium of Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus to mark the District tour of Standard Chartered-The Daily Star Celebrating Life.

Fronted by Rahul Ananda, the band's renditions included their popular hit songs including Bakul Phul, Jhara Pata, Ma, Tomar Jonno Akash Vora Tara, Ursi Keno, Bristy Pore, Tomar ak Hate Debo, and many more. The band dedicated one of their songs to eminent 'Natyacharya' Selim Al Deen, who was formerly a professor of the university.

Earlier in the day, a photography exhibition with 43 winning photographs of Celebrating Life- 2018 was held at the corridor of the auditorium of the University campus.

JU Vice-chancellor, Prof. Farzana Islam inaugurated the daylong event as chief guest. She expressed special thanks to The Daily Star for organising such events for years. She said, “These arrangements inspire the young generation to have more creative activities and refrain from negative thoughts.”  

Convener of Standard Chartered-The Daily Star Celebrating Life, Rafi Hossain along with Prof. Sheikh Md. Monzurul Huq, president of JU Teachers Association Prof,  Nurul Alam, JU Proctor Sikder Md. Zulkarnine, Prof. Rasheda Akhter, Prof. Sohel Ahmed, Prof, Hanif Ali Prof. Bashir Ahmed, director of TSC were present during the inauguration.
