Beyonce makes history
Beyonce is reportedly taking control of US Vogue's September cover, and she is already making history by hiring an African-American photographer to shoot the cover. Beyonce will be on the cover for September and Anna Wintour, Vogue's editor-in-chief, has given her the reins to design and hire people for her photoshoot. Beyonce now is using her power to build a proud moment for the African-American community. This is the first time an African-American photographer has been hired to shoot the cover in the magazine's 126-year history. 23-year old Tyler Mitchell will reportedly be behind the lens. Mitchell has shot for top fashion brands like Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. He has also collaborated with many gun reform activists for Teen Vogue last year. Anna Wintour has always maintained tight control over her magazine's look. Cover subjects are usually given little say in what they wear or what photos are chosen for the issue. But Beyonce will reportedly choose the photos to be published and their captions. It's astonishing that Vogue has never had a black photographer work on their cover. Now, Beyonce has stepped up to change that!
