Apollo to launch bone marrow transplantation
Apollo Hospitals Dhaka is planning to launch specialised blood disorder and cancer treatments like bone marrow transplantation, hemato-oncology, and interventional radiology in a one-stop cancer centre within this year, its top officials announced yesterday.
The centre will have the potential to treat all forms of blood disorder using state-of-the-art equipment, said Prasad R Muglikar, director of medical services of the hospital.
Celebrating its 10th year in Bangladesh, the hospital management at an event in its auditorium announced that it was set to launch several sub-specialised treatment facilities that would stop Bangladeshi patients from going abroad for healthcare.
Bangladeshi patients seeking medical treatment abroad spend about Tk 4,000 crore outside the country annually, said R Basil, chief executive officer of STS Holdings Ltd, the parent group of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka.
"Introducing these treatments in Bangladesh will keep some of the capital in the country," he said. He also unveiled the hospital's new logo.
