Anelka fires Mumbai

Mumbai City FC leap-frogged Delhi Dynamos in the points table and moved to third in the pile after their tightly-contested 1-0 victory over Delhi Dynamos. The Ranbir Kapoor co-owned side recorded their second straight 1-0 win courtesy yet another Nicolas Anelka strike, this time from open play after being set up superbly by Subhash Singh.
The match started on a sour note for Mumbai as their skipper Syed Rahim Nabi pulled his hamstring, had to receive treatment and was off the pitch for a couple of minutes.
Delhi enjoyed a good spell of possession in the opening exchanges, leaving their hosts chasing shadows early on but failing to create any clear chances, even failing to register a shot at goal.
Meanwhile, Nabi had returned to the pitch and soldiered on until the 10th minute when he eventually took his leave and was replaced by Peter Costa.
For all their good passing and movement, Delhi had failed to really trouble Subrata Paul and it was the home team who had the first sight of goal in the 18th minute. Andre Moritz did well to evade a couple of defenders and pass to Jan Stohanzl who drove forward and shot from distance but his effort went wide.
