AL nominates Anupom Shajahan for Tangail-8

Anupom Shajahan, son of late Shawkat Momen Shajahan, got Awami League nomination for Tangail-8 constituency by-poll.

A meeting of AL Parliamentary Board, chaired by party President Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Gono Bhaban this evening, picked Anupom as the party candidate, said a party press release.

A total of ten local AL leaders collected nomination forms for the parliamentary constituency.

The Tangail-8 constituency fell vacant following the death of AL lawmaker Shawkat Momen Shajahan on January 20. He was elected MP unopposed in the January 5 polls.

The by-poll will be held on March 23.
