AL MP Bodi gets bail
The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to Awami League lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi for four weeks in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission on August 21 on charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it.
According to the case, the lawmaker from Cox's Bazar-4 informed the ACC on March 20 that he along with his wife and children owned movable and immovable properties worth Tk 5.20 crore. But his income tax return showed that they possessed properties worth Tk 16.06 crore till June 30 last year.
The HC granted bail to Bodi after hearing a petition filed by him.
Deputy Attorney General Shafiul Bashar Bhandary told The Daily Star that the HC granted bail to Bodi, as he produced documents before the HC showing that he had given more than Tk 3 crore in last six years, and he did not commit any corruption.
ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said they would appeal to the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the HC order of bail.
