Successful students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital rejoice after publication of this year's Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations today.

A total of 89.94 percent candidates passed this year's Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations, showing a 2.97 percent rise from previous year.

The pass rate was 86.97 percent last year.

Total 16,75,109, out of 19,02,746 examinees, successfully passed the examinations, reports private satellite channel Somoy TV.

A total of 1,72,208 students secured GPA-5,the highest grade point average.

The pass rate of JSC and JDC examinations in Dhaka board is 87.93 percent, Chittagong 86.13, Comilla board 90.45, Sylhet 91.15, Barisal 96.60 and Dinajpur 88.91 percent.

Students of Sylhet Government Agrogami High School today celebrate their success in this year's Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the copy of the results to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at about 10:00am.

Nahid will formally announce the results at a press conference at his ministry at 1:00pm.

The examinees will get their results from their respective exam centres and education boards, on websites and through SMS from 2:00pm.

The results will also be available at www.educationboardresults.gov.bd, a common website of all the education boards.

The candidates can also obtain their results through short message service (SMS) to mobile phone operators.

Some 10,07,655 girls and 8,95,091 boys had registered to sit for the exams this year.

Eight general education boards and one madrasa board conducted the examinations, which were held at 2,420 centres.
