76 BNP men sued over Bakshibazar clash
A total 76 leaders and activists of BNP including its student wing President Rajib Ahsan, general secretary Akramul Hasan and former president Azizul Bari Helal have been sued for their alleged involvement with yesterday’s clash in Bakshibazar area of Dhaka.
Chakbazar police filed the case around 10:30pm yesterday hours after the clash erupted between Bangladesh Chhatra League, the pro-Awami League student body, and BNP's student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Ilyas, inspector (investigation) of the police station, told The Daily Star Online.
The clash ensued about 12:10pm when around 200 Chhatra League men equipped with iron rods and sticks swooped on JCD men, turning the area into a battle ground dominated by one side.
At least 45 people were injured in the fight that began just before BNP chief Khaleda Zia appeared before a makeshift court at Bakshibazar in connection with Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable trust Graft cases.
