7 fall sick after taking mango juice
At least seven people fell sick after taking mango juice at Gopalpur village in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
They are Abdur Razzak, 52, son of late Hazrat Ali, his son Ripon,15, daughter Rehana,18, nephew Abu Said, 20 and relatives Lutfar Rahman, 25, son of Abdul Hakim, Somet Ali, 35, son of Kader Ali of the village in the upazila and Al-Amin, 22, son of Abdul Mazid of Phulbari village of Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district. They were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
Family sources said Somet Ali bought a mango juice 'Aam Ros', a product of Promy Beverage Company, from Azizul's shop of Phutani Bazar in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila and brought it to his relative Abdur Razzak's house.
Minutes after taking the mango juice at 9:30pm, the seven fell sick, said the sources.
Dr Tozammel Haque, senior medical consultant of the hospital, said they fell sick due to food poisoning.
“We have already sent the sample of the juice to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka”, he said.
A team of IEDCR will come soon to visit the patients, said the doctor.
